Smash burgers need weight behind them to get that thin, dark crust going on the hot steel. We pour this one in solid cast iron with a wide base and bolt a smooth wooden handle over the top. It keeps bacon flat on the griddle plate and handles two patties at once.

Solid cast iron base

The thick iron plate holds heat and does the pressing without you leaning your full weight into the griddle. It comes pre-seasoned so meat releases without tearing the crust off.

Raised wooden handle

We mount a thick wood grip high above the iron plate. It gives your fingers clearance from the hot metal and the rising steam while you press grease out of bacon strips.

Two patty width

The wide rectangle covers enough flat surface to hold two burgers down together. It also sits across thick cuts of meat or sandwich bread to keep full contact with the hot steel.

Washing and oiling

Scrape the flat bottom clean with warm water after cooking, dry it thoroughly, and wipe a light coat of oil across the iron surface before you slide it into the grill cart.
