Wrong part, what now

A part that does not fit is a fixable afternoon. Here is the order of operations, and the checks that keep it from happening twice.

Start on the order page

Returns run through our retail partner, because that is who took the payment and shipped the box. Your order page has the window, the steps, and the label. Starting there is faster than starting with us, and it is the only route that ends with money back on your card.

Before you send it back

Spend two minutes making sure it is actually the wrong part, because near misses are common and some of them are not misses at all.

  • Compare the old piece and the new one side by side, end to end. A tube that looks short in the box often measures right on the bench.
  • Check the orientation. Heat plates and flavorizer bars sit one way around, and upside down they look like the wrong shape entirely.
  • On a cover, check the tag against your own measurement rather than against the grill name. Covers are cut to inches.
  • On a hose or regulator, check the fitting type before deciding it does not thread. A fitting that will not start is usually the wrong type, not the wrong size.

If it is genuinely the wrong size

Tell us what you measured and what you got. We would rather fix the listing than have the next person repeat it. If a dimension on our page sent you to the wrong piece, that is a mistake on our bench and we want to know about it.

How to not need this page

Measure before you buy, not after. Pull the worn part out and put a tape on it, and when you are shopping for fabric, measure the grill rather than the cover that is already sagging on it. Almost every return we hear about traces back to a number nobody checked.

Get the size right the first time

Pick the grill you run, or open the shelf you came for. Both roads land on the same 177 pieces.
